Palmanova
Palmanova is one of Italy’s most extraordinary planned cities, famous for its perfectly star-shaped design created during the Renaissance as a defensive fortress of the Venetian

Why Visit Palmanova
Palmanova intrigues travelers with its symmetrical layout, monumental gates, and impressive ring of fortifications that surround the historic center. From the central Piazza Grande, straight streets radiate outward like spokes of a wheel, revealing churches, barracks, and civic buildings shaped by centuries of military use.
Walking or cycling along the ramparts offers panoramic views over the Friulian countryside and a close look at Renaissance defensive innovation.

Beyond its striking form, Palmanova reveals layers of Venetian and later Austrian military history embedded in bastions, moats, and underground passages.
Small museums, quiet cafés around the main square, and surrounding farmland give the fortress town a peaceful atmosphere today. The balance between grand defensive architecture and everyday life makes Palmanova a rare example of Renaissance urban planning still lived in and enjoyed.

Bruno was absolutely wonderful! There were so many things we wanted to see, but we knew our kids would get bored quickly. Bruno made sure they were engaged the entire time and they loved every second of it. The parents and grandparents also loved it! It is 100% worth the money to do the family tour if you have kids. Our kids were ages 7,8 and 10.
